A prostrate herb often rooting at the nodes; stems pale green, somewhat flattened, sparsely strigulose, up to 1 m. long.. Leaves resembling those of I. spicata; rhachis not over 8 mm. long; leaflets, in Flora area, 4–7, strigulose above.. Raceme up to 4 cm. long, including a peduncle rather longer than the floriferous part.. Calyx deeply divided, 2.3 mm. long.. Stamens 4–5 mm. long.. Style 2–3 mm. long, bent in the middle through 90°.. Pod green, usually somewhat curved, flattened, with a marked longitudinal ridge, ± 15 mm. long, 2.2 mm. wide and 1.4 mm. thick, strigulose; endocarp minutely speckled.. Seeds 5–7, tetragonal, ribbed.
