Characteristics

Stems erect, up to 60 cm or more high, about 2 mm thick below, angular, with the flattish spaces between the angles or ridges much broader than the ridges, finely adpressed-pubescent with minute centrally fixed hairs, canescent or greyish-brown. Leaves 10-35 mm long, drying greenish or pallid; leaflets 9-17, the lateral opposite in 4-8 pairs, 5-11 mm long, 1.5-2 mm broad, linear-oblong, obtuse, apiculate, longitudinally folded, minutely adpressed-pubescent on both surfaces. Racemes 4-8 cm long and 4-6 times as long as the flowering leaves, slender, with the peduncle below the lowest scar of fallen flowers longer than the leaves. Flowers lax, ascending in bud, spreading when open. Pedicels 2-4 mm long. Calyx-lobes scarcely 1 mm long, deltoid. Corolla 10 mm long; standard as seen in bud adpressed-pubescent with somewhat golden-brown hairs. Pods very young, apparently terete.
