Characteristics

Erect, woody suffrutices, up to 0.6 m high; young stems rigid, ± geniculate, angular, densely appressed strigose. Stipules 1-3 mm long, lanceolate-subulate. Leaves digitately 3-foliolate, sessile, petioles 1-3 mm long. Terminal leaflet on rachis extending to 1 mm beyond lateral leaflets, 4-16 x 1-5(7) mm, cuneate-obovate to oblanceolate, glaucous, upper surface glabrous, lower surface strigose, apex ± rounded. Inflorescences of 10-70 mm long, 10-30(40)-flowered racemes; peduncle (1.5)3.0-14 mm long; rachis woody, spinescent; pedicels 0.5-1.5 mm long. Flowers 5-7 mm long, orange-red; calyx 1.5-2.5 mm long, ± densely strigose, lobes lanceolate-subulate; standard strigose dorsally, keel apex obtuse. Stamens (3.5)4.0-5.5 mm long. Ovary densely strigose. Flowering time Sept.-May. Pod 7-34 x 3.0-3.5 mm, flattened, often falcate, netted with veins.
