Characteristics

Erect somewhat woody herb 0.6–1.3 m. tall; stems reddish, appressed strigulose with hairs ± 0.2 mm. long.. Stipules falcate-subulate, reflexed; leaf-rhachis up to 3 cm. long, prolonged 1–3 mm. beyond the lateral leaflets; petiole and gap between the 2 lower leaflet pairs each ± 1 mm. long so that 4 leaflets are crowded together at the base of the leaf; stipellae well developed; leaflets 9–15, elliptic or cuneate-oblong, up to 10 mm. long and 5 mm. wide, strigulose with short hairs only above, both short and long beneath.. Racemes many-flowered, up to 11 cm. long, including a peduncle of 10–15 mm.; bracts lanceolate-linear, ±1.5 mm. long, very caducous; pedicels up to 2 mm. long in fruit.. Calyx strigulose, 2–2.5 mm. long, deeply divided; lobes subulate.. Corolla densely strigulose outside.. Stamens ± 4 mm. long.. Pod subtetragonal, faintly torulose, 15–20 mm. long, ± 2 mm. wide and thick, sparsely strigulose, 7–11-seeded; endocarp hardly spotted.. Seeds not pitted.
