Characteristics

Small shrub, suffrutex or herb 0.2-1 m tall. Stems semi-erect, many-branched, sparsely to densely ± appressed whitish strigose-pubescent, often with longer spreading hairs above; pearl bodies sometimes present. Stipules 4-8 mm long, linear-lanceolate to setaceous. Leaves pinnately (5)9-13(15)-foliolate; leaf axis 17-50(65) mm long with dense clusters of dark pearl bodies at base of petiole and between leaflets; petiole of 5-10(12) mm, stipels mostly absent; terminal leaflet 8-20(25) x 4-9(11) mm, elliptic to obovate, glabrous above, ± appressed pilose to subsericeous, or strigose beneath. Raceme 5-21 cm long, including peduncle of 13-60 mm; bracts 3-5.5 mm long, linear-lanceolate; pedicel 1-1.5 mm long. Calyx 3-4 mm long, ± sericeous with whitish hairs; lobes lanceolate, 2-4 times as long as tube. Corolla pink, back of standard whitish pubescent to subsericeous; keel apex ± obtuse. Stamens 6.5-8 mm long; anthers with scattered hairs. Pod 9-12 x 2-3 mm, ± spreading, oblong, subcylindrical, whitish sericeous to pilose, sometimes subhirsute with dark brown setose hairs; endocarp densely spotted with tannin vescicles. Seeds 2-4, ± cuboid, dark greenish-brown, deeply pitted, immature.
