Characteristics

Many-stemmed suffrutex or dense bushes, up to 0.4 m high; rootstock woody or plants rhizomatous, stems herbaceous or woody-based, prostrate, mat-forming or scrambling, appressed strigose, scattered with pearl bodies. Stipules 0.5-3.0 mm long, filiform. Leaves pinnately (5)7-13(15)-foliolate, rachis (1)4-14 mm long; petioles 0-2(3) mm long. Terminal leaflet (1.5)2.0-8.0 x 0.5-3.0 mm, ± oblanceolate to oblong-elliptic, apex rounded; sparsely strigose, paler green above, appressed strigose beneath. Inflorescences of (10)20-100 mm long, 5-25-flowered racemes; peduncle (3)7-30 mm long; pedicels 3-7(9) mm long. Flowers 3.5-4.5 mm long, red; calyx (2.5)3.0-5.0 mm long, ± densely strigose; lobes subulate-setaceous, 1.5-2.5x tube length; standard ferruginous-tomentose to strigose dorsally; keel apex obtuse. Stamens 2.5-4.0 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-May. Pod 12-18 x 1.5-2.0 mm.
