Characteristics

Leaves alternate, often crowded and tufted, sessile; blade oblong or narrowly obovate, mostly with a pair of basal, linear, stipule-like lobes, margins entire or apex 3-toothed or sharply serrate in upper half, glabrous or thinly to densely hairy, glandular-punctate. Heads discoid, subglobose, many in terminal, compound corymbs. Involucral bracts in several series, imbricate. Receptacle paleate. Flowers: disc florets only, bright yellow; Mar. Fruit with cypsela narrowly obovate, ribs ± scabrid, without superficial glands between ribs. Pappus of minute teeth from upward prolongations of cypselar ribs.
