Perennial herb; scabrid in all parts except corolla. Stems annual, procumbent. Leaves ovate, with base of blade cordate to triangular-cordate, 15-55 x 7.5-40.0 mm, apex rounded or emarginate, margin thickened, upper surface finely net-veined, lower surface similar but with raised veins. Flowers: peduncles 1-or 2-flowered; calyx lobes unequal, 12-18 mm long, apices obtuse; corolla 35-50 mm long, pale mauve to almost white with darker, mauve-magenta centre, midpetaline bands glabrous, conspicuous; Oct.-Mar. Fruit a globose capsule, ± 15 mm in diameter; seeds hairy.
Prostrate perennial herb. Leaves larger and with large irregular teeth. Sepals as in var. bathycolpos. Corolla up to 70 mm long. Flowers pale mauve to almost white with darker, mauve-magenta centre.
