Erect shrub; stems silvery-hairy or glabrescent, up to 2 m. tall, covered with prominent leaf-scars.. Leaf-blade elliptic-ovate to almost orbicular, (0.5–)1.4–6 cm. long, (0.15–)0.8–4.5 cm. wide, obtuse or slightly emarginate at the apex, rounded at the base, glabrescent or obscurely pubescent above, adpressed silvery-hairy beneath; petiole 0.2–1.5 cm. long, silvery-hairy, biglandular at the apex.. Flowers solitary, sessile, clustered on abbreviated branchlets; bracts lanceolate or triangular 5–9 mm. long, 2–2.5 mm. wide, densely silvery-white pubescent.. Sepals similar to the bracts.. Corolla mauve, funnel-shaped, 2.7–4.2 cm. long; midpetaline areas silky-pilose.. Capsule ovoid, 1.1 cm. long.. Seeds ovoid, 6 mm. long, 4 mm. wide, densely covered with pale golden-buff hairs 1 cm. long (Fig. 24/3, p. 131).
