Perennial; stems several, bristly-pilose, prostrate, up to 1 m. long from a little-branched rootstock or sometimes flowering when stems very short.. Leaf-blade orbicular in outline, either deeply 3-lobed, with reniform or obovate-orbicular lobes, or entire but with a conspicuously crenate margin, up to 4.5 cm. long and 6 cm. wide, obtuse or emarginate but mucronulate at the apex, with a deep sinus at the base, green and adpressedly bristly-pilose above, with dense white-cottony tomentum and yellow-bristly nerves beneath; petiole up to 7 cm. long.. Flowers in few-flowered dense heads; peduncle up to 13 cm. long, pilose; bracts lanceolate, strigose, 9 mm. long.. Sepals lanceolate, 7–9(–16) cm. long.. Corolla white with mauve or purple centre or all pink, funnel-shaped, 2.5–3 cm. long.. Capsule ovoid, 5 mm. tall, pubescent at the apex.
