Leaf lamina ovate, up to 9·5 × 5·5 cm., often more or less cordate at the base, acute at the apex, green but with long appressed hairs above, silvery-velvety with appressed whitish silky hairs beneath; veins and margin also pilose; petiole 1–6 cm. long, densely pilose like the young shoots and peduncles.
Flowers in dense cymose heads, up to 4 cm. wide, densely hairy; peduncle 1–7 cm. long; outer bracts foliaceous, bluntly linear-lanceolate, up to 3 cm. long; inner bracts narrow up to 1·8 cm. long, all with an indumentum similar to that on the leaves.
Stems prostrate to twining up to l·5 m. long, densely covered with fine soft spreading golden hairs, associated in the younger parts as also in the petiole and peduncle with short appressed white hairs.
Corolla funnel-shaped, purple or white, up to 2·8 cm. long; midpetaline areas with long stiffish hairs on the upper part of the limb.
Sepals subequal, accrescent, linear-lanceolate, more or less 6 mm. long, densely clothed with long stiffish yellowish hairs.
Capsule ovoid, glabrous.
Seeds black, puberulous.
Annual herb.
