Annual or biennial herb with long slender rootstock; stems 3–5, prostrate, 12–60 cm. long, densely white-pilose above, glabrescent beneath.. Leaf-blade lanceolate to oblong-ovate in outline, 1.5–3.5 cm. long, 0.4–3.5 cm. wide; petiole 0.2–2 cm. long; upper leaves lanceolate, entire or with two small basal lobes; lower and radical leaves 3–13-lobed, with the lobes linear, 0.5–3 cm. long, 0.1–0.3 cm. wide, sometimes sparsely toothed, somewhat pilose.. Flowers axillary, solitary; pedicels 3 mm. long.. Outer sepals 6 mm. long, base ovate and coriaceous, often toothed on either side, apex narrow and foliaceous; inner much shorter, elliptic, hyaline.. Corolla pink with dark centre, very narrowly tubular, 1.1 cm. long, tube 0.75 mm. wide and limb 5 mm. wide, opening in the evening.. Capsule globose, glabrous, 5 mm. diameter, 6-valved.. Seeds 4–6, collateral, together forming a sphere, pale brown with dark spots and patches of pubescence, 2.1 mm. long.
