A woody liane with perennial branches ascending trees up to a distance of 9 m.; rootstock probably tuberous; young branches tomentose at first, later glabrous.. Leaves rapidly deciduous, often not present in flowering and fruiting stages; blade ovate, 3–10.5 cm. long, 2.2–8 cm. wide, obtuse and mucronulate at the apex, cordate at the base, glabrous above, the nerves impressed, densely tomentose on the nerves beneath when young, bullate; petiole 3–5 cm, long, biglandular at the apex.. Flowers solitary, clustered atthe apices of the shoots; peduncle about 3 mm. long; pedicels 6–7 mm. long, thickening and lengthening in fruit to 1 cm.. Sepals elliptic-oblong, 1–1.3 cm. long, 7–9 mm. wide, enlarging in fruit up to 1.4 cm. long, very obtuse, glabrous.. Corolla opening at night, white, sweetly scented; tube cylindrical, slender, 5.5–7.5 cm. long, (4–)6–9 mm. in diameter; limb salver-shaped, 9 cm. in diameter, with a frilly edge.. Capsule ovoid, about 2 cm. long, 1.5 cm. wide.. Seeds shaped like an orange-segment, elongate-ovoid, 11 mm. long, 6.0 mm. wide, covered with long, white, pale brown or whitish hairs about 1.7 cm. long and also scaly under the hairs.
