Characteristics

A perennial, woody-based, erect subshrub up to 1.2 m. tall; stems stout, velvety-tomentose.. Leaf-blade ovate, 7–13 cm. long, 4.75–9 cm. wide, obtuse or subacute and apiculate at the apex, cordate at the base, entire, pubescent above, with a dense white woolly tomentum beneath; petiole 3.5 cm. long.. Flowers solitary; peduncle 1.6–2.5 cm. long; pedicel about 4 mm. long; bracts elliptic, 3.9–4.5 cm. long, 3.2–4 cm. wide, closely adpressed to the calyx, costate, densely velvety outside, glabrous and with impressed venation inside (Fig. 22/7, p. 102).. Sepals elliptic, very similar to the bracts, 2.3–2.7 cm. long, 1–1.6 cm. wide.. Corolla white, narrowly funnel-shaped, 11 cm. long; tube narrow, silky-pubescent; limb with silky midpetaline areas.. Capsule globose, 2.5 cm. in diameter, glabrous.. Seeds ovoid, 11 mm. long, 6 mm. wide, covered with cream hairs 2 cm. long.
