Characteristics

Erect shrubby herb to 1.8 m. tall; stems numerous, unbranched, ridged, angular, tomentose or glabrous.. Leaf-blade oblong to ovate, 7.5–12.5 cm. long, 3.7–8.5 cm. wide, rounded or acute and shortly apiculate at the apex, rounded or cuneate at the base, undulate or entire, rarely base subhastate or lamina deeply trilobed, upper surface puberulous or tomentose, lower covered with a dense floccose tomentum or entirely glabrous all over; petiole 1–3 cm. long, biglandular at the apex.. Flowers solitary; peduncle 1.3–5.3 cm. long, pubescent; pedicel about 5 mm. long; bracts obovate, 1.6–4 cm. long, 1.3–3.0 cm. wide, tomentose or glabrous, venose.. Sepals elliptic, obtuse, tomentose or glabrous, 1.7–3.2 cm. long, 1–l.3(–3) cm. wide.. Corolla white or pale rose or purplish at the base of the tube, narrowly funnel-shaped, (7–)9–12.5 cm. long; tube cylindrical, about 1.2–1.6 cm. in diameter and 8 cm. long; limb glabrous save for sparsely lanate apical part of the midpetaline areas outside.. Capsule ovoid, 2.6 cm. long.. Seeds ovoid, 9 mm. long, covered with long hairs.
