Characteristics

Leaf-lamina linear-lanceolate or oblong, 20–50 × 2–10 mm., base cuneate or rounded, apex apiculate, upper surface thinly hairy, lower surface with a silvery indumentum, margin ciliate; petiole 0–3 mm. long.

Stems several, from a woody rootstock, radiating, erect or prostrate, unbranched, up to 45 cm. long, striate, densely covered with short spreading hairs.

Flowers solitary, axillary, erect; peduncle up to 10 mm. long bearing above the middle 2-linear-lanceolate persistent 6–12 mm. long bracteoles.

Corolla tubular funnel-shaped, white or pink with purple centre, up to 4·5 cm. long; tube slightly swollen at the middle.

Sepals ovate-lanceolate, apex acute or acuminate, up to 8 × 3 mm. long, hairy outside, margin ciliate, glabrous inside.

Seeds more or less globose, velutinous tomentose.

Stamens hairy at the base.

Capsule globose, glabrous.
