Characteristics

Glabrous perennial liane; stems ridged, somewhat woody, up to 6 m. long, rugulose, often yellowish.. Leaf-blade ovate or triangular (rarely narrowly hastate), 4.5–12 cm. long, up to 10.7 cm. wide, acute, acuminate, obtuse or emarginate at the apex, cordate or with rounded basal lobes and a narrow or wide sinus at the base, dark glossy green; petiole up to about 8 cm. long.. Flowers in few-to many-flowered cymes, very lax, rarely solitary; peduncle 2–11 cm. long; pedicels and secondary peduncles 1.5–3 cm. long.. Sepals imbricate, ovate-elliptic, 1.3–1.7 cm. long, 0.7–1 cm. wide, ± rounded at the base, acute or rounded at the mucronulate apex, rugulose, with veins showing obliquely in the hyaline margins.. Corolla white, lilac or pinkish with a darker centre, funnel-shaped, with a ± cylindrical tube, 5–8 cm. long, possibly glutinous judging by the appearance of the dried flowers.. Capsule not seen.
