Leaf lamina circular in outline, palmately 5-lobed to the base, about 2·5 × 3·5 cm. in diam., lobes obovate, up to 2·5 × 2·2 cm., rounded in outline at the apex (much rounder than the last species), strongly cuneate at the base, sharply toothed, basal ones usually again bilobed; petiole 0·5–2·5 cm. pseudo-stipules present, resembling leaves, but much smaller.
Inflorescences 1–2-flowered; peduncle 1·5–2 cm. long, often conspicuously winged; pedicels 5–7 mm. long; bracts leafy, up to 2·0 cm. long, with 3 pinnatifid lobes.
Very similar to Ipomoea coptica (L.) Roth ex Roem. & Schult. in habit and foliage, probably directly derived from that.
Sepals elliptic, 6–7 mm. long, obtuse, the outer cuspidate, smooth, tuberculate or cristate.
Corolla salver-shaped, white; tube narrowly cylindric 1·7–2·1 cm. long; limb 9 × 13 mm.
Seeds 6, trigonous, pubescent, brown.
Capsule globose, 3-locular.
