Characteristics

Tree to 20 m; young shoots puberulent with pale brown hairs. Leaves elliptic, narrowly elliptic, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, obtuse, thinly coriaceous; lamina mostly 9-15 cm long and 3-5 cm wide; base acutely cuneate or decurrent; secondary veins 5-8 pairs; petiole 10-16 mm long. Inflorescence 3-20-flowered, 1-3 cm long. Calyx c. 1 mm long. Sepals ovate, 1-veined, 4-5 mm long. Male flowers: staminal filaments 3.2-4.2 mm long; anthers 0.9-1 mm long. Female flowers: ovary flattened, curved; lateral appendage 2-lobed, 1-2 mm long. Fruit 21-25 mm long, c. 20 mm wide, smooth; appendage ovoid when fresh, 28-35 mm long, c. 15 mm diam., white.
