Shrubs erect, 30-100 cm tall. Stems erect or ascending, brown-gray, much branched at apex; puberulent. Petiole 1-2 mm; leaf blade ovate to broadly ovate, 1.5-3 × 1.3-2.5 cm, papery, abaxially sparsely hirtellous along veins, sparsely yellowish glandular, base broadly cuneate, margin crenate except for entire base, apex obtuse; lateral veins 3-or 4-paired, elevated. Panicles slightly patent, (6-)10-15(-20) cm, glandular pubescent; floral leaves similar to stem leaves, smaller; bracteoles linear, 1-2 mm. Pedicel 1-3 mm. Calyx purplish, 4-5 mm, slightly declinate, broadly campanulate, hirtellous on veins outside, sparsely yellowish glandular, ± 2-lipped; teeth lanceolate-ovate, 1-1.5 mm, lower 2 slightly wider; fruiting calyx dilated, 6-7 mm, conspicuously 10-veined.
