Characteristics

Shrubs ca. 60 cm, much branched. Branches brown, glabrescent; branchlets slender, densely gray puberulent. Petiole 3-10 mm; leaf blade ovate to subrhomboid-ovate, 1-3 × 0.6-1.4 cm, papery, adaxially rugulose, base broadly cuneate, margin crenate-serrate or entire, apex acute, puberulent, glandular, lateral veins 4-or 5-paired. Cymes axillary, 3-5-flowered, densely puberulent; peduncle ca. 2 mm; floral leaves reduced toward apex, subsessile, margin subentire. Pedicel 1-2 mm. Calyx campanulate, ca. 4 mm, densely puberulent on teeth; teeth subequal, lanceolate, to ca. 2.5 mm, apex spiny acute, densely white pilose inside. Corolla white, ca. 6 mm, pilose, tube 2.5 mm. Stamens included. Style slightly exserted. Nutlets unknown. Fl. Jun-Jul.
