Isolepis incomtula Nees

Annual herb, tufted, often entire plant red-coloured, 0.02-0.08 m high. Leaf blades filiform, 0.3-0.6 mm wide, shorter than culms. Culm filiform, 0.2-0.5 mm in diam. Inflorescence a terminal head of 1-10 spikelets. Subtending bract suberect to reflexed, very short to well-developed. Spikelets minutely squarrose, ovate, 2.5-6.8 mm, 7-24-flowered. Glumes boat-shaped, 1.9-4.1 x 0.7-1.1 mm, keel excurrent into 0.3-2.1 mm long awn. Style branches 3. Flowering time Oct. Nutlet broadly obovate, 0.5-0.8 x 0.4-0.6 mm, 3-angled, brown, surface papillose.
