Subtending bracts 1 or 2, erect to suberect, hair-like. Spikelets flattened, oblong, variable in size, 6-15 x 1.8-2.2 mm, 3-20-flowered. Glumes ovate, boatshaped, 1.8 mm long, keel non-excurrent or excurrent into minute blunt point. Style branches 3. Flowering time Aug.-Nov. (Apr., June. Nutlet elliptical, 1.0-1.2 mm long, 3-angled, light brown, surface minutely tuberculate.
