Ovary superior, conical, 5-lobed, 5-celled; style twisted, 5-grooved; ovules 2 per cell, collateral. Capsule coriac., broadly ovoid, 5-celled, loculicidally dehiscent; seeds large. Genus monotypic, endemic. Tree with alt. to opp. or whorled, exstipulate, glab. lvs; teeth gland-tipped.
