Ixia campanulata Houtt.

Plants 100-350 mm high. Corm ± globose, 10-18 mm diam.; tunics of fine, netted fibres extending upward in a collar around base. Stem simple or with 1 branch from near base. Leaves 5 to 10, 1/2-2/3 as long as stem, 2-5 mm wide, ± linear, ± straight, main vein and margins slightly thickened. Spike closely (1)2-to 9-flowered; bracts ± orbicular, 4-6 x 5-7 mm long, white or pink, outer usually 3-toothed, inner slightly shorter, 2-toothed. Flowers ± rotate or bell-shaped, uniformly bright red or white then often flushed red outside; perianth tube filiform, 2-3 mm long; tepals slightly ascending, united in basal 1-2 mm, obovate to elliptic, 12-25 x 8-12 mm. Filaments 3-5 mm long; anthers 6-8 mm long, yellow. Style dividing opposite middle to apex of anthers or beyond them, branches 3-4 mm long.
