Characteristics

Plants mostly 200-300 mm high, sheathed at base by collar of fibres. Corm 14-20 mm diam. with tunics of fine netted fibres. Stem unbranched. Leaves 4 to 7, upper 1 to 3 partly sheathing; blades narrowly sword-shaped to sublinear, reaching at least to base, or sometimes exceeding spike, 1.5-3.0 mm wide, main vein slightly thickened. Spike elongate, mostly 6-to 12-flowered; bracts membranous with dark veins, 4-6 mm long, outer 3-veined and 3-toothed, inner 2-veined and forked apically, slightly exceeding outer. Flowers deep pink, presence of scent unknown; perianth tube narrowly funnel-shaped, expanded in upper 1/3, (10-)12-18 mm long, ± 3 mm wide at mouth; tepals subequal, oblong, 14-17 x 6-8 mm, spreading horizontally but remaining concave. Filaments ± 10 mm long, usually exserted ± 6 mm; anthers ± 4 mm long, yellow. Style dividing opposite anther tips, branches ± 1.5 mm long.
