Plants 200-500 mm high. Corm globose, 5-8 mm diam., bearing short, branched stolons from base, each with small terminal cormlet; tunics of fine, almost membranous, fine netted fibres. Stem simple or with 1 short branch from upper third. Leaves 3, all basal, lanceolate, somewhat shorter than stem, 3-10 mm wide, loosely spirally twisted distally, uppermost sheathing stem in lower half. Spike closely 6-to 12-flowered; bracts 7-8 mm long, outer 3-veined, with 3 long dry cusps 3-4 mm long, inner 2-veined, with 2 long dry cusps. Flowers rotate, mauve-pink with small dark purple central mark, very faintly scented; perianth tube cylindric, 2-4 mm long; tepals cupped, ovate, 9-12 x 6-7 mm. Filaments ± 2 mm long, erect, purple; anthers suberect, 5-6 mm long, yellow with reddish line of dehiscence. Style dividing opposite base of anthers, branches ± 3 mm long, purple fading pink distally.
