Characteristics

Plants 150-300 mm high. Corm ± globose, 10-15 mm diam.; tunics ± coarse, dark fibres, netted above. Stem unbranched. Leaves 5 or 6, narrowly lanceolate, spirally twisted, reaching to ± the middle or upper third of stem, 3-5 mm wide, firm with prominent main vein, margins ridged, cartilaginous, ± crenate. Spike closely 3-to 7-flowered; bracts ± opaque, dry, 3-7 mm long, outer with prominent central cusp and short lateral teeth, inner 2-veined, 2-toothed. Flowers salver-shaped, white or blue-purple with dark central eye; perianth tube 8-12 mm long; tepals subequal, obovate to elliptic, spreading, 12-17 x 6-9 mm. Filaments ± 2.5 mm long, parallel, ± white; anthers suberect, ± 4.5 mm long, yellow; pollen yellow. Style yellow, dividing opposite base of filaments, branches 3-4 mm long.
