Leaves glabrous; blades drying brown or greenish, never markedly discolorous, 3–18 × 1.2–6 cm, elliptic to oblong-elliptic or oblong-oblanceolate, acute to acuminate or occasionally obtuse at apex, cuneate or occasionally obtuse to rounded at base, membranous, slightly shiny or less often dull above; lateral nerves in 6–17 main pairs, not impressed above; tertiary nerves usually distinctly discolorous beneath; petiole 0.3–1.6 cm long.
Inflorescences 2.5–13.5 cm across; peduncle (0.4)1–9.7 cm long, glabrous or occasionally glabrescent; primary inflorescence branches (0.5)0.7–4.5 cm long, glabrous or puberulous; pedicels 0–1(2) mm long; subtending leaves with blades 1.2–9.3 × 1–5.8 cm, oblong-elliptic, rounded or obtuse at base with petioles 0.3(5) mm long; bracteoles present at base of calyx tube, triangular to subulate, up to half as long as the tube.
Corolla white flushed with pink; tube 0.8–2.5 cm long, c. 1 mm wide at top; lobes 4–6(7) × 2–3 mm, oblong-elliptic or narrowly obovate, rounded or sometimes obtuse.
Calyx glabrous; tube 1–1.5 mm long; limb-tube 0.25–0.75 mm long; lobes 0.25–0.5 mm long, shortly triangular, acute to rounded.
Stipule limbs 2–5 mm long, truncate, keeled, with a subulate to filiform apical lobe up to 5 mm long, caducous.
Small tree or shrub 6–17 m tall; young branches glabrous, older branches covered with greyish-buff flaky bark.
Fruit red, 8–10 mm in diameter (often galled with corolla persistent).
Seeds pale brown, 6.5 mm wide.
