Characteristics

Small tree or shrub, 4.5 m. tall; young branches glabrous; older branches covered with greenish-buff ± smooth bark.. Leaves glabrous; blades drying brown or greyish, slightly discolourous, elliptic or sometimes oblong, 8–19.5 cm. long, 3.3–6 cm. wide, acute to subacuminate at apex, obtuse or cuneate at base, nerves not impressed above, tertiary nerves apparent and sometimes discolourous beneath; petioles 0.4–1 cm. long; stipule-limbs triangular, 5 mm. long; lobes subulate, up to 2 mm. long.. Corymbs lax, 6–8.3 cm. across, sessile; primary inflorescence-branches 1–3.9 cm. long, with short fine hairs; pedicels 0–4 mm. long, usually with the middle one of each triad undeveloped or shorter than the lateral ones, pubescent; inflorescence-supporting leaves undifferentiated; bracts stipule-like; bracteoles small, subulate to filiform, 1–2 present at base of calyx-tube.. Calyx-tube 1–1.75 mm. long, with short fine hairs below, ± glabrous above; limb 0.25–0.5 mm. long, shallowly or somewhat irregularly lobed, glabrous or sparsely and minutely puberulous..
