Characteristics

Annual herb well branched from the base and above, stems c. 20-300 mm long, prostrate, mat-forming, minutely glandular-puberulous, hairs mostly less than 0.1 mm long, leafy throughout. Leaves opposite becoming alternate upwards, often pseudofasciculate, largest c. 6-20 x 3-7 mm, blade elliptic in outline tapering into a petiolar part, first 1 or 2 pairs of leaves entire or subentire, others divided nearly or quite to midrib into entire or 1-few-toothed lobes, lobes oblong to spathulate, obtuse, minutely glandular-puberulous on both surfaces, glistening glands plentiful. Flowers solitary in the axils of the leaves, the whole plant very floriferous. Pedicels up to 2-10 mm long. Calyx tube 0.2-0.3 mm long, lobes c. 2.5-4 x 0.6-0.8 mm, oblong to spathulate, glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.1-0.15 mm long, glistening glands as well. Corolla tube c. 6.3-10 x 1.8-2.2 mm in throat, cylindric below, expanded in throat, limb c. 6-7.5 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 2-3 x 1.5-2.5 mm, anticous lobe 2-3.2 x 1.8-2.5 mm, all lobes golden-yellow, oblong-elliptic, glandular-puberulous outside, glistening glands as well, broad transverse band of clavate hairs inside throat. Stamens: posticous filaments c. 1-1.4 mm long, posticous anthers c. 1 mm long, included, anticous filaments c. 0.4-0.6 mm long, anticous anthers c. 0.4-0.7 mm long, tips just visible in mouth or included, all filaments minutely puberulous. Stigma c. 0.2-0.3 mm long, included. Style 5-7 mm long. Ovary c. 1.1-1.6 x 0.7-1 mm. Capsules c. 3-4 x 2-2.5 mm, very minutely puberulous, a few glistening glands as well mainly down sutures. Seeds c. 0.2-0.5 x 0.15-0.2 mm.
