Characteristics

Dwarf shrub or shrub up to 1 m high; parts of plant often glutinous because of secreting glistening glands, stems many-branched with leafy dwarf shoots (brachyblasts) in axils. Leaves short, ± 10 x 3 mm, ± spathulate, mostly entire, lower surface with many glistening glands. Flowers axillary, scattered, sometimes stem apex sterile. Calyx: lobes up to 2.8 mm long, linear-lanceolate. Corolla: tube up to 24 mm long; limb bilabiate; lobes oblong to cuneate, thick, obtuse to truncate, margins revolute, upper surface shades of yellow-to red-or chocolate-brown.
