Characteristics

Dwarf shrublet with stems tufted from a woody caudex up to c. 20 mm in diam., stems up to c. 450 mm long, often diffuse and then sometimes rooting, occasionally ± erect, simple to loosely branched and forming tangled masses, glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.2-0.3 mm long, some scattered glistening glands as well, very leafy. Leaves opposite, alternate towards tips of branchlets, pseudofasciculate, largest primary leaves 8-25 x 4-13 mm, up to c. 1/3 of the length petiolar, blade ovate in outline, + deeply divided (from c. 1/3 of the way to the midrib virtually to the midrib), the lobes ± spathulate or cuneate in outline, obtuse, at least the largest lobes toothed, with all gradations to every lobe divided ± to the midrib, all segments obtuse, both surfaces glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.15-0.2 mm long, glistening glands as well particularly on lower surface. Flowers solitary in the axils of the leaves, the inflorescence so-formed usually conspicuously leafy. Pedicels up to 6-20 mm long. Calyx tube 0.1-0.3 mm long, lobes 2.5-3.7 x 0.4-1 mm, oblong to subspathulate, densely glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.15-0.2 mm long, glistening glands as well. Corolla tube 7-10 x 1.3-2 mm in throat, cylindric, abruptly expanded near apex, limb oblique, 8-12 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 3-6.5 x 1.5-3.7 mm, anticous lobe 3-6.5 x 1.5-3.2 mm, all lobes cuneate-oblong, ± truncate or retuse, glandular-pubescent outside, hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long, glistening glands as well particularly on backs of lobes and swollen part of tube, transverse band of clavate hairs in throat extending very briefly onto base of lower lip, lobes white or creamy, occasionally with a dark median streak at base, throat yellow to orange. Stamens: posticous filaments 0.8-1.4 mm long, anthers 0.5-lmm, anticous fdaments 0.3-lmm, anthers 0.4-0.6 mm, all filaments minutely puberulous. Stigma 0.15-0.3 mm long. Style 5-7 mm. Ovary 1.5-2 x 0.7-1 mm. Capsules 3-5 x 2-2.5 mm, minutely glandular-puberulous, glistening glands as well, these sometimes confined to sutures. Seeds c. 0.4-0.6 x 0.3 mm.
