Dwarf shrublet c. 200-400 mm tall, branches erect, spreading or ascending, well branched, glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.1-0.25 mm long, scattered glistening glands as well, all but the oldest stems closely leafy. Leaves pseudofasciculate, opposite, sometimes alternate upwards, primary leaves 2-7(-22) x 0.8-3(-12) mm (ratio of length to breadth 2-5:1), spathulate, either entire or with a pair (rarely up to 4 pairs) of teeth in upper part, usually plane, either glabrous above or with a few minute glandular hairs, glabrescent, lower surface densely clad in glistening glands, these sometimes oozing to give a varnished appearance (sometimes seen on young stems and calyx as well). Flowers solitary in the axils of the primary leaves, irregularly scattered all along the branchlets. Pedicels up to (7.5-)10-21 mm long, glandular pubescent, hairs up to 0.1-0.15 mm long. Calyx tube 0.1-0.3 mm long, lobes 2.5-3.5 x 0.7-1 mm, lanceolate-oblong, subacute, clad in a mixture of glistening glands and minute glandular hairs. Corolla tube 10-15 x 1.8-2.3 mm in throat, cylindric, abruptly expanded near apex, limb oblique, c. 12-15 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 4.8-6.2 x 3-4.8 mm, anticous lobe 5-6 x 3-4.2 mm, all lobes cuneate-oblong, often retuse, glandular-pubescent outside, hairs up to 0.1-0.2 mm long, glistening glands as well mainly on backs of lobes, broad band of clavate hairs in throat extending very briefly onto base of lower lip, lobes varying from white to pink or mauve with a wedge-shaped, slightly raised, yellow to orange or red median patch at the base of each lobe (usually clearly visible in the dried state). Stamens: posticous filaments 1.2-2 mm long, anthers 0.8-1.2 mm, anticous filaments 0.6-1 mm long, anthers 0.5-0.8 mm, all filaments minutely glandular. Stigma c. 0.2 mm long. Style 7.5-12 mm. Ovary 1.7-2 x 0.8-1.2 mm. Capsules 5-6.5 x 2.8-3.5 mm, glistening glands and minute glandular hairs all over. Seeds c. 0.6-0.8 x 0.4 mm.
