Twiggy dwarf shrublet, caudex up to c. 20 mm in diam., stems up to c. 150-500 mm long, often heavily browsed, erect or decumbent, glandular-pubescent, hairs from less than 0.14 mm long, leafy. Leaves opposite, alternate upwards, pseudofasciculate, largest primary leaves 3-11(-18) x 1-3(-6) mm, spathulate, often conduplicate, often entire, sometimes with 1-2 pairs of small teeth near apex, rarely with 4 deeply cut lobes, the largest toothed (the latter seen only in coppice shoots and sometimes persisting at base of older stems), both surfaces glandular-pubescent, hairs from less than 0.1-3 mm long, many glistening glands as well. Flowers solitary in axils of upper reduced leaves forming small terminal racemes, or solitary in axils of primary leaf of pseudofascicles and then sometimes overtopped by new growth. Calyx tube 0.2-0.4 mm long, lobes 3.2-5 x 0.7-0.8 mm, ± oblong-spathulate, glandular-pubescent, hairs up to 0.2-0.3 mm long, few glistening glands as well on lower part. Corolla tube 9.5-12 x 1.5-2 mm in throat, cylindric, abruptly expanded near apex, limb oblique, 10-15 mm across lateral lobes, posticous lobes 5-7.5 x 2-4 mm, anticous lobe 4.5-7 x 2-4 mm, all lobes cuneate-oblong, glandular-pubescent outside, hairs up to 0.15-0.2 mm long, glistening glands as well on backs of lobes, transverse band of clavate hairs in throat extending very briefly onto base of lower lip, lobes often white, sometimes pale pink or mauve, dark median streak at base of each lobe. Stamens: posticous filaments 1-1.4 mm long, anthers 0.8-1.3 mm, anticous filaments 0.3-0.9 mm long, anthers 0.5-1 mm, all filaments puberulous. Stigma 0.2 mm long. Style 5.5-10 mm. Ovary 1.5-2 x 0.8-1 mm. Capsules c. 5 x 3 mm, glandular-puberulous, glistening glands sometimes present down sutures. Seeds c. 0.7-0.8 x 0.4 mm. Flowering has been recorded in most months.
