Characteristics

Climbing shrub, the young branches densely and shortly tomentose, more or less glabrescent later.. Leaves simple, opposite or (rarely) subopposite; blades broadly ovate, obtuse to acute or shortly acuminate at apex, rounded, truncate, or very slightly cordate at base, variable in size, in young leaves about 2 cm. long and 1.6 cm. broad, in older leaves up to 7 cm. long and 4 cm. broad, the young leaves tomentose on both surfaces but the older ones much less so on the upper surface, midrib and main veins slightly impressed on upper and prominent on lower surface; petiole 2–8 mm. long, densely tomentose, articulated towards the base, though not conspicuously so.. Inflorescences terminal to main and to short lateral branches, densely tomentose, 1–3-flowered; pedicels 2–4 mm. long at anthesis.. Calyx densely tomentose; lobes slender subulate, 5–8 mm. long at anthesis.. Corolla tube 1.4–2.3 cm. long.
