Characteristics

Prostrate suffrutex or much-branched shrublet up to 0.5 m high. Branches glabrous and polished or hairy and sometimes glandular, usually ribbed and channelled, sometimes knobbly. Leaves subsessile or petiolate, glabrous or hairy, with a thick fringe of flat white hairs along margins, or these hairs few and restricted to leaf base, linear to obovate, up to 24 mm long, apex acute to acuminate, midrib prominent, texture thin; petiole glabrous or pubescent, sometimes fringed with same hairs as leaf, up to 4 mm long, sometimes expanded at base and wrapping around stem. Bracteoles narrow, 3-7 mm long. Flowers solitary. Calyx lobes 3.5-5.5 mm long, lengthening slightly in fruit. Corolla 12-15 mm long, white, cream or mauve, often with contrasting lower lip. Capsule pubescent, 5.5-7.0 mm long. Seeds round, 2 mm in diameter, brown or beige with darker mottling.
