Characteristics

Sparse shrublets with erect or decumbent terete branches, occasionally rooting; roots fleshy but not tuberous. Leaves petiolate, glabrous; petiole 8-15(-20) mm long, not clasping; lamina orbicular, rarely broadly oblong or obovate, (30-)35-70 x (20-)30-50 mm, entire or sometimes faintly toothed flat or recurved rarely tinged red along margin, green or with flaking wax when old. Inflorescence an oblong thyrse with several dichasia. Calyx with triangular lobes 2-3 mm long. Corolla deep yellow, becoming more deeply tinged red with age; tube cylindrical, quadrangular, 14-15 mm long; lobes ovate, 3-4 x c. 3 mm. Anthers 1.2-1.5 mm long. Squamae oblong 2-2.5 mm long, rounded at apex. Seeds c. 1.5 mm long.
