Corolla 13·5-17 mm. long; tube rather swollen in the lower half to nearly spherical in fruit, contracted into a cylindrical-tubular portion above the carpels, sparsely pubescent, yellowish; corolla-lobes 4·5-7·25 x 2·5-3·25 mm., elliptic to obovate-oblong, acute, erect, connivent in fruit, orange.
Calyx 3·5-5·5 mm. long, green in flower, yellowish to hyaline in fruit, membranous on drying; tube (0·5)1-1·5 mm. long, truncate and circumscissile at the base after anthesis; sepals 2·3 mm. broad at the base, deltate to ovate, acute (but neither attenuate nor cuspidate).
Flowers erect in dense cymes, forming either a solitary terminal corymb or a panicle-like inflorescence up to 37 cm. long; branches of the inflorescence up to 24 cm. long; pedicels up to 5·75 mm. long, thick, rather broadened below the calyx.
A perennial (or biennial?) succulent, glandular-pubescent throughout; hairs of the indumentum up to 1 mm. long, capitate-glandular, slightly rigid, spreading, whitish or pale tawny, ± dense, rather dense on the inflorescence.
Stamen-filaments insertedd above the middle of corolla-tube, those of lower stamens c. 1 mm. long; anthers ± 0·5 mm. long, included, the upper ones c. 2 mm. below the base of corolla-lobes.
Stem curved at the base, then erect, robust, terete, smooth, pale; lower internodes ± 1 cm. long, the uppermost up to 6 cm.
Follicles 5·5-7·5 mm. long (with the styles); styles 1·25-2 mm. long.
Scales 2-2·75 mm. long, linear.
