Characteristics

Glabrous pruinose presumably hapaxanthic herb; stem robust, erect, 0.5–3 m. high.. Leaves petiolate; blade subovate or cordate, usually boat-shaped, up to 15 cm. long, 6 cm. wide, apex acute to acuminate, median leaves usually with 2 small lobes or auricles at the base, margins entire to subentire, glaucous above, pale green and usually with purple or maroon mottling beneath; petiole up to 5 cm. long, ± round and slightly broadened at the base.. Inflorescence lax, many-flowered, up to 30 cm. or more long; pedicels 5–10(–15) mm. long.. Calyx-lobes lanceolate-subulate, 2–5.5 mm. long, 1.5–2 mm. wide, acute, connate at the base for 0.5–1 mm.. Corolla-tube greenish white or cream, limb cream or pale yellow; tube 17–22 mm. long; lobes lanceolate-ovate to obovate, 4.5–6.5 mm. long, 2.5–4 mm. wide, obtuse-apiculate.. Anthers with apical glands ± 0.15 mm. in diameter; episepalous stamens included 0–2 mm. within the tube, anthers oblong, ± 1.3 mm. long, 0.75–0.85 mm. wide; epipetalous stamens with anthers exserted to half included, anthers oblong, ± 1.1 mm. long, 0.7–0.8 mm. wide.. Nectary scales linear, 2.5–4 mm. long, ± 3-fid.. Carpels linear-subulate, 10–14 mm. long, attenuated into styles 6–8 mm. long.
