Characteristics

? Scandent shrub or tree 7 m. tall; young branches glabrous.. Leaf-blades oblong-elliptic, 10–16 cm. long, 5.8–7.7 cm. wide, shortly acuminate at apex, obtuse to rounded at base, glabrous; lateral nerves in 6–7 main pairs; tertiary nerves rather coarsely reticulate; domatia present as glabrous pits in axils of main and sometimes tertiary nerves; petioles 0.8–1.4 cm. long, glabrous or sparsely pubescent; stipules linear from a triangular base, 0.9–1.3 cm. long, glabrous.. Flowers 4–5-merous, borne in pedunculate 30–50-flowered cymes; peduncle 0.8–1.1 cm. long, sparsely pubescent; pedicels 6–8 mm. long, sparsely pubescent; bracteoles inconspicuous.. Calyx-tube 0.75 mm. long, glabrous; limb 0.75 mm. long, dentate, ciliate.. Corolla-tube 2.25–3 mm. long, with a ring of deflexed hairs a short distance below apex inside; lobes triangular, 2–2.5 mm. long, 1–1.5 mm. wide at base.. Anthers fully exserted, erect; stigmatic knob not known.. Disk pubescent.. Fruit only known from single-seeded examples, 1.3 cm. long, 1.1 cm. wide and thick; pyrene ± broadly ellipsoid, 1.3 cm. long, 1 cm. wide, 0.7 cm. thick, rugulose; area above point of attachment on ventral plane ± circular with a central crest..
