Characteristics

Shrubs up to 1 m high from woody base. Stem irregularly branched, leafy stems 3-4 mm wide, up to 6 mm diam. near base. Leaves deep green, narrowly lanceolate, 90-120 x (3-)4-5 mm. Inflorescence a compound head with (4)8 to 16 flowers (2 to 8 flower pairs); foliar bracts with sheathing part pale translucent green, dark green at tips; spathes membranous, 15-20 mm long, outer ± larger than inner; floral bracts membranous, translucent, 12-14 mm long. Flowers pale yellow-green below, dark blackish purple on exserted part of limbs; perianth tube 3.3-4.0 mm long; tepals (47-)55-64 mm long, limbs ± 12 mm long. Filaments ± 43 mm long, ± white, reaching to base of tepal limbs; anthers ± 7 mm long, reaching to within 5-8 mm of tepal tips, yellow; pollen yellow. Ovary ± 2.5 mm long; style 53-58 mm long, 2-3 mm shorter than tepals, stigmatic lobes minute. Capsules narrowly ovoid-oblong, 8-9 mm long, 4-5 mm at widest. Seeds ± 7 x 3 mm.
