Raceme slender, 50–70 cm long, spiciform, ± dense; bracts 3–6 × 2.5–3.5 mm, oblong-ovate, boat-shaped, reflexed; pedicels up to 1 mm long.
Perianth 7.5–11 mm long; tube 4–6 mm long; lobes 4–6 mm long, 2–2.5 mm wide at the base, oblong, rounded, reflexed, the margins revolute.
Leaves 0.8–2 m long, 4–5 cm wide at the base, linear, keeled, the margins entire or remotely serrulate.
Flowers patent, white, cream, greenish or greenish and tipped with brown or reddish-brown.
Stamens exserted for 4–5 mm; filaments 9–11 mm long; anthers 2.7–3.5 mm long.
Rhizome interrupted (jointed with short internodes).
Seeds sharply angled, c. 4.5–5 mm long.
Capsule c. 6.5 mm long, oblong-ovoid.
Plant robust, up to 3.7 m tall.
Peduncle stout, 1.1–2.3 m long.
Style slightly exserted.
