Characteristics

Annual, occasionally perennial herb, 0.15-0.60 m high; subterranean woody base, roots long, fibrous, with occasional bead-like nodules. Leaves up to 61 x 2 mm, linear. Inflorescences compound pseudo-umbels, 5-12-flowered; peduncles up to 170 mm long. Flowers scented. Calyx: tube ± 2.8 mm long, ovoid-elliptic; lobes narrowly triangular. Corolla: tube up to 26 mm long, narrowly cylindrical; lobes creamy pink above, brownish beneath, ± narrowly elliptic. Style 3-5 mm long; stigma lobes up to 3 mm long. Flowering time Sept.-Feb. Fruit subglobose, glabrous capsules, up to 3.9 x 4.8 mm. Seeds dark brown, ± 1 mm long, slightly flattened, ellipsoid.
