Erect annual herb, with branched glabrous or very slightly scabridulous stems, 35–70 cm. tall.. Leaves linear, 3–6 cm. long, 0.8–1.5 mm. wide, narrowly acute at the apex, narrowed to the base, glabrous; stipular sheath 1–1.5 mm. long, with 2 filiform setae 0.7–1.5 mm. long.. Inflorescences very lax panicles; pedicels very graceful, 1–1.5 cm. long, lengthening up to 2–4 cm. long in fruit, glabrous.. Calyx-tube ellipsoid, 0.8 mm. long, papillose; lobes narrowly triangular, 1.3 mm. long, slightly scabridulous at the margins.. Corolla said to be red; tube 4.5 mm. long, minutely papillate, the widened part 1.5 mm. long, 0.5 mm. wide, glabrous inside; lobes 1.3 mm. long, 0.7 mm. wide.. Style 1.3 mm. long; stigma-lobes 1.7 mm. long.. Capsule subglobose, 3 mm. in diameter, glabrous.. Seeds chestnut, angular, 0.3 mm. long.
