Characteristics

Calyx tube (0.7)0.8–1.2 x (0.4)0.5–1.3(1.5) mm., ovoid-elliptic to ± globose, densely covered with rounded white papillae; lobes (0.4)0.5–0.9(1) mm. long and 0.2–0.45(0.6) mm. wide at the base, narrowly triangular, scabrid with papillae along margins and midrib.

Corolla greenish, glabrous or sparsely papillose along ribs; tube altogether (2.1)2.2–3.1(3.2) mm. long, the widened part 0.5–0.7(0.9) x 0.3–0.5(0.7) mm., the narrow part 0.2–0.3(0.5) mm. wide; lobes (0.3)0.4–0.65(0.85) x (0.2)0.3–0.5 mm., oblong-lanceolate.
Leaves (14)20–27(52) x (0.8)1.5–2.6(3.9) mm., linear-lanceolate, apex acute, narrowed to the base, margins and midrib beneath sparsely papillose, margins revolute; stipular sheath (0.7)1.2–1.8(3) mm. long, stipular lobes (0.7)0.9–1.5(1.9) mm. long.
Inflorescences ± lax, 1 or 2 flowers at a node, if 2 then one subsessile the other pseudo-pedicellate; peduncles 10–45 mm. long; pseudo pedicels (3)8–12(20) mm. long; all parts densely papillose like the stem.
Annual herb, 50-230 mm tall. Flowers 1 or 2 at a node, terminal one sessile, lateral one on distinct pseudo-pedicel, flowers small, inconspicuous. Flowers greenish.
Annual, erect, unbranched to very sparsely branched fragile herbs 5–23 cm. tall; stems at base 0.4–1.7 mm. in diam., densely scabrid with triangular white papillae.
Capsules (1.6)2–2.8(3) x(2.5)2.6–3.4(3.8) mm., subglobose, ± distinctly constricted along the septum, papillose.
Style and stigma as long as narrow part; stigma lobes c. 0.5 mm. long.
Seeds light brown, angular-subconic, c. 0.5 mm. long.
Anthers ovate, c. 0.6 mm. long; pollen 4-colporate.
