Characteristics

Shrub 1.5–4.5 m. tall.. Stems covered with long golden tubercular-based bristly hairs and a shorter pubescence as well, usually sticky.. Leaves 20–30-foliolate; leaflets oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 0.4–1.5 cm. long, 1–3.8 mm. wide, acute and often slightly falcate at the apex, obliquely rounded or very slightly emarginate at the base, with short hairs on margins and on the almost marginal main nerve beneath; petiole and rhachis 2.5–5 cm. long; petiolules minute; stipules lanceolate, 1–1.2 cm. long, 3.5 mm. wide, acuminate, scarious, ciliate and pubescent, persistent.. Inflorescences axillary, ± strobilate, dense; rhachis 3–4 cm. long, covered with long golden bristly hairs; peduncle 0.7 mm. long, similarly hairy; pedicels 7–9.5 mm. long; bracts very conspicuous, broadly ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 7–10 mm. long, 4–6 mm. wide, acute, pubescent and margined with long yellow bristly hairs; bracteoles oblong-lanceolate to ovate, 4–7 mm. long, 2–2.5 mm. wide, pubescent and similarly ciliate.. Calyx covered with long and short golden hairs, 0.9–1.4 cm. long, the upper lip divided for ± 2 cm. into 2 obliquely subacute or rounded lobes, the lower lip divided into 3 subacute or obtuse lobes, the outer 2 elliptic, the inner linear-oblong.. Standard yellow, sometimes veined with brown, rounded-obovate, 1.4 cm. long, 1 cm. wide, glabrous save for a very few hairs on apical margin; wings and keel probably brownish-yellow.. Ovary 4-ovuled, pubescent.. Fruit of (2–)3–4 articles, each ellipsoid or rounded-oblong, compressed, 3.5–4 mm. long, 3 mm. wide, finely rugulose, pubescent.. Seeds chestnut, ellipsoid, compressed, longest dimension 3.2 mm., shorter dimension 2.5 mm., 1.5 mm. thick, slightly beaked beyond the small eccentric hilum.
