Small bushy subshrub or shrub 0.75–1.8 m. tall.. Stems purplish-brown, covered with long greyish-white bristly spreading hairs scarcely if at all tubercular-based.. Leaves 8–18-foliolate; leaflets narrowly oblong, nearly always distinctly falcate, 1.2–4 mm. long, 0.6–0.8 mm. wide, acute or apiculate at the apex, obliquely rounded at the base, glabrescent or with very scattered long bristly hairs; margins entire; main nerve submarginal; petiole and rhachis together 0.5–1.2 cm. long, with long bristly hairs; stipules ovate-lanceolate, 5–7 mm. long, 1.2–2 mm. wide, acuminate, striate, ciliate with long white bristles, persistent.. Inflorescences axillary, short but running together to form very dense terminal oblong heads 1.5–7 cm. long, 2–2.5 cm. wide; peduncles of individual inflorescences 2–3 mm. long; pedicels 4–5 mm. long; primary and secondary bracts ovate or rounded-ovate, 4–6 mm. long, 2–4 mm. wide, acute, denticulate-ciliate; bracteoles lanceolate, 2.5–3.5 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, denticulate-ciliate.. Calyx green tinged red, pubescent, 5–6 mm. long, the upper lip oblong, emarginate, the longer lower lip shortly divided into lobes, the outer pair rounded, obtuse, the central one triangular, acute.. Standard deep blue with darker veins, obovate-oblong, 8–9 mm. long, 5.5 mm. wide, emarginate, glabrous; wings deep blue; keel cream with dark blue veins..
