Characteristics

Leaves congested at the apices of the branchlets, 7–12-foliolate; leaflets 4–20 × 1.2–6.5 mm, obliquely oblong, falcate, apiculate at the apex, very asymmetric, obliquely rounded at the base, ciliate and with glandular hairs; main nerve submarginal; petiole and rhachis together c. 2–7.5 cm; petiolules 0.5 mm long; stipules 6–8 × 4–6 mm, triangular, striate, densely covered outside with tubercular-based hairs, subpersistent.

Small tree c. 2 m tall; branches thickened, up to 2.5 cm in diameter covered with a thick, corky, brown, corrugated bark; young branchlets similar but densely covered with persistent stipules and tubercular-based hairs.
Calyx glandular-pubescent, 2-lipped; upper lip 2-fid, 12 mm long, lobes 7–8 × 2–2.5 mm, lower lip 3-fid, 9–11 mm long, lateral lobes 6–7 × 2–2.5 mm, median lobe 5–5.5 × 1.5–1.8 mm; all lobes narrowly elliptic-oblong.
Inflorescences axillary, 2–4 cm long, 1–6-flowered, rather lax, densely sticky-pilose; peduncle 5–7 mm long; pedicels 9–14 mm long; bracts 5–7 × 2.5 mm, lanceolate; bracteoles 5–6 × 1.5–2 mm, lanceolate.
Standard dull wine-coloured (when dry), 18 × 12 mm, obovate-elliptic, rounded at the apex, auriculate, glabrous.
Ovary 1-ovulate, 3 × 1 mm, densely white pilose.
