An annual or perennial herb, 9–27 cm. tall, branched, with the stems and leaves more or less hirsute with branched hairs interspersed with shorter ones.. Leaves oblanceolate or narrowly oblanceolate, acute or subobtuse and shortly apiculate at apex, gradually narrowed at the base but not or scarcely petiolate, 8–47 mm. long, 2–13 mm. broad; stipules elongate-triangular, gradually acuminate, 2–3 mm. long.. Cymes 3–9-flowered, with the rhachis and pedicels shortly hirsute; pedicels 2–5 mm. long.. Sepals in outline lanceolate or narrowly ovate or lanceolate-elliptic, acutely apiculate, 3.5–5 mm. long, 1.25–2.5 mm. broad, the outer ones the smaller, margins broadly scariose, 3–7 nerved.. Petals oblong, rounded or obscurely dentate at the apex, 1 mm. long.. Filaments 1.5–1.75 mm. long; anthers scarcely 1 mm. long..
